So here's the truth about how Sweets by Shalisha started — it wasn't some childhood dream. It was a broke moment and a whole lot of “I guess I'll figure it out.”
I was planning my dad's 70th birthday party and by the time I got to the cakes, my budget said absolutely not!. So, I did what I do best: decided I could just... make them myself. No pressure, right?
Were they good? Absolutely!
Were they pretty? Baby, no.
I posted them anyway because I was just proud people could tell what they were.
Then a friend saw them and asked, “Ooh, can you make one that looks like a remote control?”
Now, I don't know what it is about a challenge, but somebody says “Can you?” and my mouth says “YES” before my brain even gets a vote.
And just like that, completely by accident, Sweets by Shalisha was born.
What started because I couldn't afford to buy a cake became another creative side of me I never even knew existed.
